Who We Are

The Christian County Health Department has a team of three Health Educators who are professionals trained in a variety of evidence-based curriculums that influence community health education.

Our Vision and Purpose:

CCHD's Health Education program strives to change the public's health one person at a time through community health education on specific health topics and establishing community partnerships to work together to make Christian County a healthier community.

We have programs catered to individuals of all ages from childhood to senior adulthood. 

Whether in schools, places of business, nursing homes, or organizations, Health Educators are trained to serve you. If there’s a topic not included in our listed programs below, we may be able to create a program specific to your needs!

Sex Education

The Puberty Workshop (Grades 6-8)

Teaches age-appropriate facts about puberty.

Choosing the Best (Grades 6-10)

Choosing The Best Curriculum
Teaches pre-teens facts about the risks and consequences of sex and the benefits of choosing healthy relationships.

ABC’s of STDs and Contraception (Grades 9-12 and adults)

Educates teens and adults on STDs/STIs, contraceptive methods, and sexual risk behaviours.

Teen Outreach Program (TOP) (Grades 9-12)

TOP Curriculum
Educates teens by focusing on three core content areas that work together as protective factors, reducing the impact of risk and promoting positive youth development: skill building, developing a sense of self, and making connections.

Educates parents on how to talk about sex, sexual risk behavior, & more!

Substance Abuse Prevention

The Truth About Drugs (Grades 6-12 and Adults)

Focuses on different types of drugs and the long-lasting health effects they associate with.

Dangers of Drugs (Grades 3-5)

Focuses on addiction, substance abuse, and how to avoid using drugs, including vape products.

Too Good for Drugs (Grades K-12)

Too Good For Drugs Curriculum
Promotes pro-social attitudes and behaviors while fostering healthy relationships, resistance to substance abuse and conflict, and resistance to negative peer pressure and influence.

Alcohol Education (Grades 6-12)

Teaches students the dangers of binge drinking, the meaning of BAC, and other facts about alcohol.

Tobacco Prevention & Cessation

Tobacco Education (Grades 6-12)

Focuses on the negative effects associated with tobacco use like secondhand smoke, birth defects, and more.

Vaping Education (Grades 6-12 and Adults)

Focuses on the facts and risks of vaping and using nicotine.

Freedom from Smoking (Adults)

Freedom from Smoking Curriculum
A smoking cessation program that provides peer support, cessation aids, and education on all the negative aspects of smoking and how to quit for good.

Nutrition and Physical Education

Serving Up MyPlate (Pre-K - 6)

Teaches children and pre-teens the five food groups and how to properly portion them.

Building Health Habits (Grades 7-12 and Adults)

Focuses on healthy eating habits, nutrition, portion sizes, and avoidable health problems.

Fit Together Project (Adults)

A program to encourage groups and communities to learn easy and practical ways to eat healthier, be active, and take control of your health. Great for friends, churches, and colleagues.

Educational Bingo

Bingo made for all ages that is centered around nutritional food or chair exercises to encourage healthy habits.

Walk with Ease (Adults)

A program created by the Arthritis Foundation to help people with arthritis or other chronic conditions to reduce pain and improve health through walking.

Chronic Disease Self Management Program (CDSMP) (Adults)

A program to help adults with chronic diseases learn how to manage and improve their health.

Safety and Mental Wellness

Skillstreaming (Grades K-5)

Teaches students how to manage emotions and effectively build healthy relationships.

Draw the Line, Respect the Line (Grade 6-8)

Teaches students about consent and how to set boundaries.

Appropriate Relationships (Grades 6-12)

Teaches students information about relationships and how to set boundaries in various relationships.

Constantly Connected - Managing Social Media Addiction (Grades 6-12)

Examines the world of social media and the detrimental effects of all-day and all-night social media.

Combatting Social Isolation and Loneliness (Grades 6-12)

This program looks at the reasons why so many people feel isolated and the toll it can take on their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

A-21 Human Trafficking Education (Grades K-12)

Human trafficking can be hidden in plain sight and comes in many forms. This age-appropriate curriculum aims to provide students with knowledge about how they can identify and respond to situations where they, or others, may be vulnerable to exploitation and human trafficking.

Hygiene Education

Germbusters

Educates all ages about bacteria, germs, how they spread, and how to prevent them.

Personal Hygiene

Educates all ages on basic hygiene and habits for your skin, hair, nails, teeth, and more!

Smile Smarts

Educates children and teens on proper oral care and daily oral habits.

CPR Certification

HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Workers
  • Available for those working in healthcare as APRN, RN, CNA, MA, etc.
For individuals seeking BLS CPR Certification
  1. Proceed with $35 registration and complete the online portion of the training at https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-bls
  2. Complete part two registration and $65 payment at https://christiancountyhd.com/cpr-registration/
  3. Schedule your skills check off at the Christian County Health Department. Check-offs are scheduled on the 4th Tuesday of every month. Contact (270) 887-4160 Ext. 154 for CPR class details or more information
For groups or organizations wanting a full-in person class (4-6 hours)
  • The Christian County Health Department can host classes based on need, organization, location, and attendees. The cost for group participants is $65 per person. Payment can be coordinated with the Christian County Health Department. Contact the health education department at the (270) 887-4160 for more information.
For individuals seeking HeartSaver First Aid CPR Certification
  1. Complete $21 registration and the online portion of the training at
